A Little About Me
My Practice
I have been practicing therapy, both individual and group settings, for more than 3 years. I was trained as a generalist practitioner during my counseling psychology masters program at the American University in Cairo. During my MA program I was trained in different individual therapy approaches as well as couples therapy. After finishing my practicum and internship, I got certified as an Empower relief instructor, for chronic pain management, from Stanford University School of Medicine.
I strongly believe in the importance of the therapeutic relationship as the basis for a
successful therapeutic journey for the client that is why I view empathy, genuineness and unconditional positive regard to be the basis for therapy. I believe therapy is a unique journey through which we get to meet and love ourselves in a safe space that allows us to explore our potential and grow.
As for my therapeutic approach, I prefer the integrated approach to tailor the
therapeutic interventions according to the client's needs.
What I'm Like
I strongly believe in our human actualizing tendency ; I believe that we all inspire to grow into a better version of ourselves and therapy is the safest place to explore our potential and grow. I am a collaborative therapist as I believe that the client is the expert in their life; as a therapist I feel honored to join my clients in their phenomenological reality to guide their efforts to grow. I aspire to build a safe corrective therapeutic relationship with my clients, and I use reflections, humor or questions to deepen this therapeutic connection.
What Can You Expect From My Sessions
I believe therapy needs to be tailored for each client building on their uniqueness, their strengths and addressing their challenges and concerns. I generally prefer the person-centered therapy approach that allows for personal presence, fluidity, and exploration of the concerns and growth opportunities. Nevertheless, since I tailor the therapeutic interventions and treatment plan according to the clients' needs, some of my sessions can be structured yet still holding the space for some deeper exploration.
In the session, we are building a unique relationship that is different from any other; a corrective safe relationship.
Our first session
In our first session we get to be introduced to one another to initiate our therapeutic alliance. In the first session we work on creating a picture or a snapshot of the client's life discussing their familial background, their social and personal history and their current functioning in addition to their reasons to seek therapy. After creating the snapshot, the client specifies the edits they want to make on their life picture by setting their goals.
