A Little About Me
My Practice
In my practice, I work with adults, young adults, and couples to help them navigate life's challenges. I aim to provide a non-judgmental and safe space where you can feel seen and heard, knowing that taking the first step into psychotherapy isn’t easy. My approach balances change and acceptance; I encourage clients to accept what cannot be changed and to work on changing what can. My style can be structured at times, while also allowing room for reflection, understanding behaviors, thoughts, and feelings.
I aim to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and learn how to step back from what's weighing you down, so you can live a life that truly reflects your values, what's important to you and the kind of person you want to be. My values in the therapy room are centered on collaboration, curiosity, empathy, and acceptance.
What I'm Like
I am empathetic and place a strong emphasis on active listening and reflection. My approach is collaborative, but I can also be directive when needed. You may notice some disfluencies in my speech, as I am a person who stutters. Living with this has given me a different perspective and a deeper capacity to empathize with the challenges you may be facing.
I believe in treating you as the expert of your own life experiences. With my knowledge and experience, I aim to support you in navigating your journey and help you work toward living the life you want.
What Can You Expect From My Sessions
In our sessions, you can anticipate a balanced approach that combines structure with flexibility. In the first session, we'll set some initial goals to give us direction and a sense of purpose as we work together. However, I also recognize that the therapeutic journey is dynamic, and as we reflect and explore, other important topics may surface. Because of this, I always leave room for flexibility, allowing us to adjust our focus based on your evolving needs.
I engage with my clients through a collaborative process, where your insights and experiences guide our work. I use a blend of active listening, thoughtful questioning, and reflections to help you gain clarity and make connections. While there is a framework to guide us, I’m open to exploring what feels most relevant to you in the moment, ensuring our sessions are meaningful and responsive to where you are in your journey.
Our first session
In the first session, we’ll start by discussing and obtaining your verbal informed consent for treatment. This will cover the psychotherapy process, confidentiality and privacy, what to do in emergencies, and how to reach out to me outside of sessions. After that, we’ll focus on a thorough assessment where I'll ask questions to get to know you better, establish treatment goals, and outline the therapeutic framework we'll use moving forward.
