A Little About Me
My Practice
Hi, I'm Rebecca! I'm a UK trained Psychotherapist with a Masters in Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy, a foundation in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy and I have been working with clients for over 6 years. I am passionate about the transformative power of psychotherapy and am licensed in Dubai and the UK.
Through a supportive and confidential space that we develop together, I offer my clients the chance to express themselves freely to find ways to untangle thoughts and feelings that might have become overwhelming.
My work encompasses, anxiety, grief, problems with food or substances, overwhelming feelings or perhaps you simply have a sense that there is something missing in life. I support men with pressure around food, work stress and relationship problems, mothers on the transformational journey of motherhood, women experiencing menopause, young adults and adolescents in the challenges of school pressure and the challenges of growing up.
I short, I support people who simply feel like they can't go in the way that they are, even if things may look fine on the outside, they know they need something to change but feel stuck in terms of how to go about it. Therapy really does help.
We will move at your pace, with no pressure to share before you are ready. Coming to therapy can be hard at first but whether you are new to therapy or returning after some time, let's take that first step together.
Together, we can rebuild a genuine connection with yourself and rediscover your sense of fulfilment and joy.
What I'm Like
I know that coming to therapy can sometimes be hard, whether you are new to the process or returning to therapy. My work is about bringing awareness to what is happening now in your mind, your body and the wider world around you. From there we can begin to discover what is working and what may need some gentle attention. Therapy, for me, is a process that can sometimes take time. Habits are formed over time and it takes time to build a sense of safety and trust to begin to discover new ways of doing this. We will always work at a pace that is right for you and whether you want to do 6 sessions to address one particular concern or to go deeper into looking at deeper psychological concepts I am here for it all.
I will sometimes share my own experiences with you, if I feel that might be helpful and I will always do my best to allow you the space you need to question anything about the sessions. All questions are welcome!
I may share resources with you from my training including worksheets, diagrams or breathing exercises but that entirely depends on what arises in the sessions, each person's needs are unique and my work always keeps this in mind. We might talk about dreams, metaphors, how your body feels or discuss your history and background if it feels useful. My approach is integrative, meaning I draw upon many evidence-based approaches to find what fits you best.
You don't have to wait until life isn't hard to be happy. I'd like to help you on your journey. Please get in touch with me and let's chat today. I'd be honoured to work with you.
What Can You Expect From My Sessions
Sessions are online and usually weekly for 50 minutes, however once we have worked together for a while I do have clients who move to fortnightly or monthly if that suits their schedule.
All of our sessions are kept entirely confidential and I abide by the ethics and confidentiality rules set out by BACP.
We will cover whatever feels important at the time and the sessions will follow a pathway that is agreed by us together.
Our first session
Our first session is a chance for us both to get to know each other. It's important that you chose to work with someone who feels like a good fit for you and that you know there is no obligation to go forward if it doesn't feel right. This is the foundation of the work we will do. While I may challenge you later in places or use some humour to establish a connection, the first session is a space to share what's been going on and for us both to get to know each other and decide if it's a good fit to go forward with.
There is nothing too small, too silly or too big or heavy. Everything is welcome in my sessions. There are entirely confidential. My aim is to allow you to feel supported in whatever you are experiencing and to know that you do not have to carry this alone.
