A Little About Me

My Practice
I see therapy as a collaborative space where clients can better understand themselves, make sense of what they are experiencing, and work toward meaningful change. My approach is grounded in curiosity, empathy, respect, and the belief that therapy should be tailored to the person rather than the other way around. I value creating a space that feels safe and non-judgmental while also being willing to gently challenge patterns or perspectives when this can be helpful. I enjoy working with adults navigating anxiety, burnout, relationship difficulties, identity and life transitions, and the psychological impact of displacement, cultural adjustment, and political or social instability. I particularly value working with clients who are curious about themselves and open to exploring both what they are experiencing in the present and the deeper patterns that may be contributing to it.
What I'm Like
As a practitioner, I would describe myself as warm, attentive, reflective, and collaborative. I don't see myself as someone who simply provides advice or tells clients what they should do. Instead, I aim to work alongside clients to understand what is happening, consider different perspectives, and identify what feels most useful for them. My style can be both reflective and practical. When appropriate, I am comfortable being more directive and offering concrete strategies, tools, or psychoeducation, while at other times I find it more valuable to slow down and explore an experience in greater depth. I also believe there is room for humor in therapy. While I take the work seriously, I don't believe every moment needs to be serious, and I am comfortable allowing warmth, spontaneity, and humor to be part of the therapeutic relationship when it feels natural and appropriate.

What Can You Expect From My Sessions

Clients can expect sessions to be responsive to what they need at that particular point in therapy. Some sessions may be more structured, particularly when there is a specific concern or goal to address, and we may use practical tools or evidence-based strategies to work toward it. Other sessions may be more fluid and exploratory, allowing space to reflect on emotions, relationships, personal history, or recurring patterns. I integrate approaches including CBT, DBT, and EMDR-informed interventions alongside relational, psychodynamic, existential, and narrative perspectives. Rather than following a rigid formula, I draw from these approaches based on the individual and the concerns we are working with. I engage with clients through active listening, thoughtful questions, reflection, and collaborative exploration. I want clients to feel that we are genuinely working together, while also ensuring that sessions have enough direction and purpose to feel useful and relevant to their goals.

Our first session

The first session is primarily an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin understanding what brings you to therapy. We will talk about what you have been experiencing, what you would like support with, and what you hope might be different through the process. Depending on what feels relevant, we may also discuss your personal history, relationships, current circumstances, and previous experiences with therapy. I don't expect clients to arrive with everything figured out or to know exactly what they need from therapy. We can work that out together. I also encourage clients to use the first session to get a sense of what it is like to work with me and to ask any questions they may have about the process. My hope is that clients leave the initial session with a clearer sense of being understood, what we might work on together, and whether the therapeutic relationship feels like a good fit.
