A Little About Me
My Practice
I trained as an existential-integrative psychotherapist, and I am currently in the last stages of my doctoral level training in Counselling Psychology, at Middlesex University London.
I have been practicing as a psychotherapist for the past 6 years, and have worked in the mental health field for the past 10 years all together.
As an existential- integrative therapist, I am drawing on the approaches that best suit the issues the clients bring into the therapy room. I offer both short-term and long term therapy for adults.
I have worked with young people, adults and groups with a wide range of difficulties, from feelings of depression and anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and workplace problems to cultural difficulties and diagnosed mental health conditions.
I have a special interest in working with individuals who have experienced workplace bullying ,burn out and stress in their workplace, and helping them to identify healthy ways of recovering.
What I'm Like
I provide an empathic, non-judgemental space where clients can open up and feel seen and heard for who they truly are. The therapeutic sessions will be tailored to meet their unique needs, based on a shared understanding of their concerns and problems. My approach is collaborative, and I will work with them to help them live more fully, drawing on their internal resources and abilities.
What Can You Expect From My Sessions
During the sessions I provide a non directive approach where I allow the clients to explore their thoughts and feelings. When working with clients short-term setting goals can help the clients feel reassured about working towards a particular outcome.
During sessions it is normal to feel triggered and normalising those feelings can be quite helpful for the therapeutic growth.
Our first session
I understand that it can feel very stressful before a client attends their first session, and that is normal. I communicate to the clients that it is okay to feel anxious during the first session and I help them to normalise their experience. I then explain to the clients that during the first session we are aiming to explore their goals, and what would make therapy feel worthwhile.
I also emphasise that it is an opportunity for them to decide if my way of working matches their needs.
