A Little About Me

My Practice
I believe therapy should feel collaborative, human and grounded in the reality of your life. Many of the people I work with have spent a long time trying to hold things together, carrying responsibilities, expectations, family dynamics or experiences that have left them feeling disconnected from themselves. My work is client-centred, trauma-informed and culturally rooted. I draw from different therapeutic approaches depending on the person in front of me, and we work together to build an understanding of what is happening and where you would like things to move. Therapy with me is reflective, but also purposeful and guided by your goals. The themes I am most drawn to are identity, belonging, culture, trauma and life transitions. I especially enjoy working with people who feel “between worlds” in some way; whether that is across cultures, relationships, roles or different parts of themselves. At the heart of my work are curiosity, compassion, collaboration and a belief that healing does not happen in isolation from context.
What I'm Like
I’m naturally curious, reflective and relational in the way I work. I tend to bring a calm presence to sessions and aim to create a space that feels warm, collaborative and grounded, where you do not have to have everything figured out before you arrive. Although I work with difficult experiences such as trauma, identity struggles and loss, I do not believe therapy has to feel clinical or heavy all the time. There is space for humour, lightness and ordinary human moments too. Above all, I hope people experience me as someone who is genuinely interested in understanding them, not just their symptoms. Clients often describe feeling validated, understood and able to make sense of experiences that previously felt confusing or difficult to put into words.

What Can You Expect From My Sessions

My sessions are guided by your goals, and sometimes part of therapy is figuring out what those goals are in the first place. They may change over time, and that is completely okay. Therapy is rarely linear, so rather than working towards something fixed, we will agree on a broad direction and revisit it as we go. We will talk openly about your preferences, what has or hasn’t worked for you before, and the ways you feel most supported. Together, we will build an understanding of what is happening and use that to shape our work. My aim is not to tell you who you are or what you should do, but to help you make sense of your experiences and move towards a way of living that feels more aligned and grounded. I work collaboratively, which means therapy is not something done to you. You bring your lived experience, values and understanding of yourself; I bring psychological knowledge, therapeutic skills and an outside perspective. Through ongoing reflection and conversation, we work together to help move you towards where you would like to be. We will also periodically review how therapy is feeling, what feels helpful, and whether anything needs adjusting so the work continues to feel meaningful and relevant.

Our first session

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it is completely okay if you arrive feeling nervous, unsure, or not quite knowing where to begin. You do not need to have everything worked out before our first session. Our initial session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building an understanding of what has brought you to therapy. We may explore what is happening in your life now, important experiences from your past, what you have already tried, and what you hope might feel different moving forward. There is no expectation to share everything straight away or talk about difficult experiences before you feel ready. We will move at a pace that feels manageable and safe for you. We may also begin thinking together about themes, goals, or areas you would like us to focus on, although sometimes simply creating space and making sense of things is enough for a first session. My hope is that you leave feeling a little more understood, a little less alone with what you are carrying, and with a clearer sense of whether working together feels right for you.
