A Little About Me
My Practice
My philosophy is to approach challenges with gentleness and curiosity. I believe in validating feelings while also helping clients pause and reflect before reacting. Together, we explore the deeper reasons behind behaviors that may not align with one’s values, always in a non-judgmental and trauma-informed way. I see therapy as a space where small moments of insight can open the door to lasting change.
I especially enjoy working with people who have spent much of their lives caring for others—whether as immigrants adjusting to new cultures, parents, or partners—and now want to reclaim space for themselves. In our sessions, I create a safe environment where you can slow down, discover what you truly want, and begin to prioritize your own needs alongside the needs of those you love.
I currently accept Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Cigna, Oscar (Optum), Oxford (Optum), Quest Behavioral Health, United Healthcare (Optum), and United Healthcare Medicare Advantage for clients residing in Connecticut and New York. I also provide a free 15–20 minute consultation so we can see if we’re a good fit. You can easily schedule a session here: https://care.headway.co/providers/julia-silveira
What I'm Like
My style as a therapist is thoughtful and reflective, while also incorporating warmth and lightness. I often use metaphors to make ideas relatable, and humor to ease the weight of difficult moments. At the same time, I believe in holding space for all emotions—both the ones that feel good and the ones that feel uncomfortable—because each carries insight. I celebrate my clients’ progress, whether small or big, and invite self-reflection as a path toward the gentle moments of clarity that can shift the way we live and connect.
What Can You Expect From My Sessions
In sessions, I take a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approach, always encouraging self-compassion. My work is rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), where we explore what feels hard to accept and practice taking steps that align with your values. I also draw on other approaches, like CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing, depending on your needs.
Our work together is warm and explorative, with space to reflect and grow. At times, I may gently challenge you when the timing feels right, because I believe growth often comes from small but powerful shifts such as little moments of clarity. I welcome your feedback at every step so that therapy feels safe, collaborative, and truly supportive of your goals.
Our first session
I offer a free 15–20 minute consultation so we can see if we’re a good fit. In the first few sessions, we’ll spend time getting to know each other and setting treatment goals together. I believe that understanding your core values is essential for noticing what’s working in your life and what feels misaligned. From there, we explore the root causes behind what brought you to therapy and begin creating space for meaningful change.
