A Little About Me

My Practice
I am an HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist. My primary focus is on the client and their story. You are the expert in your own experience, and I bring psychological expertise so that we can solve the emotional puzzle together. I am integrative practitioner and always strive to create a safe, non-judgemental and trusting therapeutic space, and aim to foster an environment where you feel comfortable and supported to process your experience. With this in place I support people in implementing interventions and coping strategies that relieve distress and achieve meaningful change. I aim to ensure that we maintain a transparent and solid therapeutic relationship. I offer an integrative approach, where I draw on evidence-based therapy models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and others as necessary. I am also trained in Eye Movement and Desensitisation (EMDR) therapy. Therapy is a journey and I can relate to how unnerving it can be to to start this process. I work at my client's pace and typically see clients dealing with a variety of issues, including but not limited to: • Depression • Anxiety • Anger • Low self-esteem • PTSD/C-PTSD • Life transitions • Loss of identity • Bereavement • Relational difficulties • Matrescence • Loss of identity
What I'm Like
You can expect me to be authentic in our sessions. The therapeutic relationship developed in the therapy room is such an important aspect of this experience and the only way to develop this is to bring your true self to the room - which is what I always strive to do. I am genuinely curious about people's journeys and experiences, and as such it is always an enriching and humbling experience to be somebody's therapist. I'll incorporate humour into my work, where this is appropriate, and often value the power of reflection and validation of what is shared. At times, it will be appropriate to bring in challenging perspectives, however it will be done from a collaborative viewpoint of where you want to get to.

What Can You Expect From My Sessions

My sessions are relaxed and flexible - I aim to offer a space that feels safe for you to bring you true self and I will encourage you to lead the sessions with where you want or feel the need to go. At times there may be challenging questions and/or observations so that I can bring in a helpful therapeutic perspective for what I see in the room. I integrate several modalities in our sessions, structuring an approach that is uniquely suited to what you may be experiencing in the moment. With that in mind, you can expect a safe space for exploration of emotions and collaborative thinking with regards to where you would like to go. My primary focus will always be a safe therapeutic relationship, so with that in mind you can expect reflections and validations of what is brought up in sessions.

Our first session

In the first session you can expect a relaxed atmosphere to foster a safe space where you can get to know my style of working and I can get to know what brings you to therapy. It's a transparent space where you can experience what it's like to be in therapy and ask any questions that may come to mind. It's a chance to get to know one another and see that it feels like the right fit. I will ask you questions to better understand what you may be going through and at the end of the session we can have a collaborative discussion about next steps.
